HISTORY

In 1979 two boys built a small lean- to coop  and started catching  commies off the grain elevators around town.  We discovered Racing Homers and aquired birds from well known local racers, Don Kelsey and Blaine Repp, by cleaning  their lofts.  In 1980 Lucky Loft was founded in partnership with my best friend Jamie we joined the Greeley Racing Pigeon Club.  Don  Kelsey aka, "The Plumber", a name attributed to him not only for his profession, but because was keen at cleaning fellow racers clocks, especially on the long distance races.   This man became my mentor and taught me most everything I knew about Racing Pigeons.  Fancy pigeons were mine and Jamie's next discovery and opened up a new wonderful pigeon world to us.  We joined the Colorado State Pigeon Association.  Jamies'  dads 10'x20' storage barn was confiscated and turned into a breeding loft, a  small loft for young fancies was built  beside it.  We demolished the lean-to coop at my house and built a small 3'x6' race loft.  By 1982 we started winning with our racing and show birds.  I focused on the race birds and Jamie the fancies.  In the fall of 1985 Lucky Loft was no more.  Jamie enlisted in the Army and I was off to College.  In 1995, out of college and a hitch in the military. I was living in Northern Virginia, a Washington D.C. suburb, and was now ready to rekindle an old flame "Racing Pigeons".  I joined the Washinton Metropolitan Racing Pigeon Concourse and flew with them until 2007.  In 2005 I aquired my 1st. Frillbacks and Show Racing Homers.  In 2008 I moved to Alabama.  I sold and donated almost all my birds at the WMRPC, winter show and auction only  bringing a couple pair of Frillbacks a couple pair of Racing Homers with me to Alabama.  In 2010 I joined the local racing club; North Alabama RPC and  eventually formed 2 Combines: The Spirit of Alabama and The Alabama Tennessee Valley. I flew with these until their disolution in 2026.  In 2025 I purchased a few Frillbacks to add to my aging stock as well as a few Show Racing Homers.  I am looking forward to showing...it's been a long time.
